On October 20th, the revision of the Certification Rules for the Combustion Performance Classification of Building Materials and Products and the technical seminar for the replacement of GB 8624 standard was held in Yunguang Moganshan, Zhejiang, China. Representatives from product quality inspection research institutes, fire quality inspection agencies, and industry experts from all provinces and cities across the country gathered at Yunguang Moganshan to conduct in-depth discussions on the revision of certification rules and technical connection under the new national standard system. The vice chairman of Yunguang Moganshan, Zhao Jianzhong, and the president of the Home Research Institute, Gui Chengsheng, among other company leaders, attended the meeting.
Discussing Standard Upgrade and Corporate Responsibility
Before the seminar began, the experts and representatives visited the corporate culture exhibition hall and the home research institute of Yunguang Moganshan, systematically understanding the company's 30-year development history, technology research and development system, as well as the layout of functional products such as flame-retardant boards and antibacterial and antiviral boards. They left a deep impression on Yunguang Moganshan's continuous investment in green environmental protection and fire safety.
In his speech, Vice Chairman Zhao Jianzhong of Yunguang Moganshan expressed his gratitude to the China Quality Certification Center for its trust and to all the experts for their presence. He mentioned that the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has clearly proposed that good houses should meet the four standards of "safety, comfort, green, and smart," with safety being the top priority. In recent years, there have been frequent building fires, and fire safety has always been a top priority for residential safety. The release and implementation of GB 8624-2025 is not just a simple patching of clauses, but a systematic comprehensive reconstruction, reflecting the four characteristics of framework systematization, technical precision, scope expansion, and application clarification, marking a new stage of more scientific, precise, and strict evaluation of fire safety of building materials in China.
Mr. Zhao said that as one of the first green product certification enterprises in China, Yunguang Moganshan understands what standard upgrading means for enterprises - it is both an increase in entry threshold and an opportunity for technological reshuffling. The company will actively meet the requirements of the new national standard and look forward to listening to the authoritative interpretation of testing technology and certification technology by experts at this seminar, to help enterprises comply accurately and avoid detours.
Four-dimensional Evaluation Reconstructs the Fire Safety System
GB 8624 "Combustion Performance Classification of Building Materials and Products" is a fundamental national standard in the field of fire safety of building materials in China. The new version of GB 8624-2025 will be officially implemented on January 1, 2027, replacing the 2012 version that has been in operation for more than a decade. This revision expands the past single evaluation based on combustion performance to a comprehensive classification system covering four dimensions: combustion characteristics, smoke generation characteristics, combustion droplets, and smoke toxicity. It covers three categories: building materials and products, decorative materials and products, and equipment and device materials, with more refined classification and more comprehensive evaluation.
The revision of the certification rules is to connect with the new national standard, systematically sort out the corresponding relationships between classification requirements, test methods, detection and evaluation, and certification implementation, to ensure the scientific implementation of the new standard.
During the meeting, experts discussed and审定 the text of the certification rules chapter by chapter, focusing on practical issues such as the division of product applicable scope, the quantity and specifications of the first inspection samples, key technical indicators requirements, and supervision and inspection sampling rules. In response to industry concerns, experts exchanged opinions fully based on their own testing experience and actual needs of enterprises, promoting the certification rules to be more operable and scientific.
The meeting clarified that the revision of the rules will adhere to the new standard as the basis, avoid simple correspondence between old and new grades, fully consider the composition structure, thickness form, and adaptability of composite materials to test and evaluation, and provide clear guidance for enterprises to comply with the transformation.
The national technical seminar held in Yunguang Moganshan is not only an acknowledgment of the industry's recognition of the company's technical strength and manufacturing foundation but also an important opportunity for the company to grasp the direction of standard replacement in advance and make technical reserves in advance. In the future, Yunguang Moganshan will continue to lead product upgrades with standards, providing consumers with safer and greener green home products.
