Rigid vs. Flexible Waterproofing: A Major Difference
Rigid Waterproofing (Wall): After the second coat dries, it requires sprinkling water for curing, with the process done in the morning, afternoon, and evening to keep it moist. This allows the cement to fully hydrate and achieve adequate strength.
Flexible Waterproofing (Floor): Instead, follow a "quiet curing" approach, avoiding watering, walking, or disturbing the surface. Natural ventilation is sufficient for the membrane to form.
The Art of Curing Duration
The duration of curing depends on the temperature and ventilation conditions; it should be at least 48 hours when temperatures are high and ventilation is good. In cooler, more humid conditions, it is essential to extend the curing period and not rush the project.
To achieve an excellent waterproofing effect, remember these tips: ensure the waterproofing layer is well-cured before performing the water-tightness test. For flexible waterproofing, wait; for rigid waterproofing, sprinkle water; and adjust the duration based on the weather conditions.
