2026 London Clerkenwell Design Week: Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard Showcase 2026 London Clerkenwell Design Week: Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard Showcase
During the 2026 London Clerkenwell Design Week, the Villeroy & Boch | Germany Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard brands, under the Villeroy & Boch Group, participated in the event. Their London exhibition hall, themed "Design Continuum", created a space for material exploration, professional exchange, and inspiration for design enthusiasts.

Following the pop-up experience space created at the Milan Design Week, the Villeroy & Boch Group continued the "Design Continuum" exhibition concept. The aim was to explore how design shapes perception and how sensory experiences influence the interaction between people and spaces. In London, this "sensory experience research" was presented throughout the exhibition hall, inviting architects and designers to explore the future possibilities of bathroom spaces through a series of new product displays and showcase installations.
This exhibition delved deeply into the multiple dimensions of contemporary bathroom design, covering material innovation, enduring form, tactile experience, interaction methods, and craft expression. The fusion of product experience, material texture, and physical perception guided visitors to gain rich spatial feelings through vision, touch, movement paths, and environmental atmosphere.
Sven Ullrich, Executive Vice President of Product Development, Management, and Marketing for the Villeroy & Boch Group, said: "In Milan, 'Design Continuum' explored how bathroom spaces provide multi-level sensory experiences. In Clerkenwell, we hope to bring this concept into a more practical and collaborative context, to engage in deeper exchanges with architects, designers, and planners, and to transform these design thoughts into inspiration for real projects."
The centerpiece in the exhibition hall was the Antao 3D Column Basin designed by the design studio KASCHKASCH. This material research piece was made using advanced 3D printing technology, with 100% of the material coming from ceramic waste internally recycled from the Villeroy & Boch factory, showcasing the possibilities of new manufacturing technology in design expression and the brand's continuous exploration of material innovation.
The Antao Earth Bowl Basin, also designed by KASCHKASCH, was previewed on site. Its experimental artistic glaze technique preserved the subtle differences in color and texture, making each piece a unique craftsmanship work, reinterpreting the connection between design, natural materials, and the production process.

"Ceramics are one of the oldest natural materials, and 3D printing has opened up new possibilities for it—both in manufacturing methods and in design language," said KASCHKASCH. "Whether it's Antao 3D or Antao Earth, we consider the material itself as the starting point of design: the former explores technology, and the latter returns to craftsmanship. In these two works, the traces of production are preserved as part of the finished product. Building a connection between 'creation' and 'perception' like this is the core of our creation."
The Artis Sense Bowl Basin, designed by Christian Haas and responsible for the color concept by Gesa Hansen, was also on display. This piece explores how texture and texture can affect people's perception of space through delicate bas-relief structures and tactile layers.

Christian Haas said: "In the past, people paid more attention to the overall form of design; while now, surface and texture have also become equally important components. They add a sensory layer to design, guiding people to interact with the works and subtly influencing our overall perception of objects and spaces."
The Vea | Villeroy & Boch High-End Hardware Series, inspired by high-end perfume bottles, further explores the more subtle interaction between people and products. This series blends contemporary simple lines with classic elegance, and through technological innovation, realizes the simple and intuitive interaction logic of "press, rotate, release", creating a refined user experience.
Christian Haas added: "In the design process of Vea, we hope to make the operation gesture more simple, accurate, and emotionally valuable. Through clear tactile feedback and precise control, the interaction between people and products themselves becomes an important part of the design experience."
The Ideal Standard exhibition area focused on the Atelier Collections designed by designer Roberto Palomba for the brand. The entire installation used light and shadow to interweave, tracing the evolutionary trajectory of geometric design language that has lasted for a long time, highlighting the eternal value of classic lines rooted in the essence of design. This also highlights the key role of designer's intuition in refining complex design ideas into simple and enduring forms, giving works lasting vitality.
Roberto Palomba said: "As Constantin Brancusi said, simplicity is the solution to complexity. Every choice in design is crucial—we do not刻意 pursue surprise, but hope to return to the function itself, exploring the most essential beauty of things."
During the Clerkenwell Design Week, the Villeroy & Boch Group extended the spirit of design dialogue from the exhibition to the special forum. Designers Christian Haas, KASCHKASCH co-founder Florian Kallus, interior designer David Harte, and Melis Duran discussed how design constitutes a "continuum" of materials, space, and senses. The forum gathered about 40 professionals from the fields of architecture and design to explore how product and interior design can influence people's perception, understanding, and emotional interpretation of space.
With a cumulative design heritage of over 400 years, Germany's Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard will continue to combine craftsmanship, material innovation, and design expertise to open up a new perspective for contemporary bathrooms, building a space value that integrates function, perception, interaction, and experience.
