Building Energy Efficiency: Beyond Design, Emphasis on Long-term Effectiveness
Nowadays, many building renovation energy-saving projects have great expectations in the design phase, but often fail to meet the expected results in actual use. What's the problem? It's often not that the equipment is not advanced, but rather that the system does not "self-optimize," leading to continued energy consumption. Effective energy saving must consider both design and long-term operational effectiveness.
This is exactly what the Haier Magnetic Suspension Competition has been doing for ten consecutive years. On December 10th, the award ceremony for the 10th Haier Magnetic Suspension Competition was held, with 208 winning projects that have been verified from the "design" to "operation" process, providing the industry with replicable new ideas: true energy saving must贯穿 the entire life cycle of the building.

The winning proposals of the competition deeply involved typical high-energy-consuming and difficult-to-reform scenarios such as rail transit, medical care, and industry, providing customized solutions. For example, in the field of rail transit, through the "wind-water联动" and high-efficiency machine room scheme, the system can automatically respond to peak passenger flow and achieve fine management; in the medical field, the customized all-effect multi-split air conditioning scheme meets strict purification requirements while continuously reducing energy consumption through intelligent optimization; in industrial workshops, high electricity costs and extensive management, the winning renovation projects achieve comprehensive energy efficiency improvement through integrated solutions of hardware and software. These achievements prove that there is no "super formula" for energy saving, and it must be "tailor-made".
To ensure that these cross-industry energy-saving commitments can be implemented, it is inseparable from the strategic support of Haier Smart Building. Over the past ten years, the competition has covered more than 3,500 design institutes, more than 10,000 professional designers, and more than 100 heating, ventilation, and air conditioning schools, receiving more than 15,000 design proposals. After review, more than 1,500 have been awarded, and it is expected that the implementation of the scheme can promote building energy saving by 30 billion kWh, achieving tremendous social value.
In the future, under the industry trend of promoting "dual carbon" goals and upgrading green building standards, the energy-saving effectiveness of building operation is becoming increasingly critical. This is not as simple as the power-saving of a single device, but requires the construction of a new energy-saving ecosystem that connects management, technology, and service. It provides a practical direction for building energy saving: "not only looking at design, but also emphasizing effectiveness."
