After a fierce competition in the home industry between "function satisfaction" and "aesthetic pursuit," we are at a new turning point: "emotional value" has become the core element defining the future of home spaces. With the acceleration of social pace, "relaxation" has evolved from a personal desire to a universal social need. Under this background, the leading brand in the industry, QianNian Zhou, held a "New Product Launch & Decorative Surface Trend and Application Seminar" during the 2025 Global Decorative Surface Conference. This event not only prospectively launched new products with "relaxation" as the core for 2026, but also clearly proposed that decorative panels should move from "decorative aesthetics" to "emotional freedom" in the industry upgrade path. The aim is to work with industry partners to jointly open up a "new blue sea" that focuses on users' spiritual needs.

To deeply explore the strategic thinking, industrial collaboration, and market feedback behind this trend, OurJia (Youju Shijie) invited Fang Xu, the General Manager of Zhejiang Shenglong Decorative Material Co., Ltd., for an exclusive interview, together interpreting the profound transformation of the home industry from "selling products" to "providing emotional solutions."

【OurJia】:QianNian Zhou redefines decorative panels as "emotional media" and "texture carrier." As a supplier, how do you adjust materials or technology to support this transformation? What specific requirements does QianNian Zhou have for materials related to "relaxation" in cooperation?

【Fang Xu】:Your question is very good, it points out the key to industry upgrading. When QianNian Zhou proposes to move decorative panels from "decorative aesthetics" to "emotional freedom," for us as suppliers, it means that our role needs to change from "standard product provider" to "a precise translator and implementer of emotional value."

Therefore, we have made systematic adjustments in terms of materials and technology:

In terms of technology, we have shifted from "high-gloss dazzling" to "micro-textured texture." In the past, we pursued strong visual impact, but now we pay more attention to simulating the original touch of materials such as linen, micro-cement, and natural wood through subtle embossing technology and special coating technology. The goal is that when users touch the panel, their fingertips can feel a gentle, skin-friendly "soothing feeling," which is the physical basis of "relaxation."

In terms of materials, we strengthen the emotional foundation of "environmental protection and safety." QianNian Zhou has clearly required that all decorative materials used in the "relaxation" series of new products must adopt higher standards of environmental-friendly inks and water-based coatings to ensure extremely low release of harmful chemicals. Because true relaxation is based on being in an environment that makes you completely at ease and not worried about your health.

Therefore, QianNian Zhou's requirements are very specific, which can be summarized as "visual low saturation, tactile skin-like texture, and ultimate environmental protection." This prompts our research and development to focus more on how to convert abstract "feelings" into quantifiable and producible quality standards through technical means.

【OurJia】:Facing the industry trend of "emotional value," as a QianNian Zhou supplier, what explorations have you made in terms of color, texture, or environmental performance? How do these explorations help QianNian Zhou's new products achieve differentiation?

【Fang Xu】:The exploration of Shenglong always revolves around three cores: color emotionology, biological texture library, and green technology.

In terms of color: we have an independent understanding of trend colors through a global design network. For "relaxation," we have developed a low-saturation color system mainly based on earth colors, oatmeal colors, smog gray, etc. These colors are not visually stimulating and can stabilize people's emotions, laying a relaxing tone for the space.

In terms of texture: we have scanned and established a large "biological bionic texture database," not limited to wood. For example, we have studied the interlacing of wool felt fibers, the weathering痕迹 of sandstone, and after digitalizing these natural, imperfect textures, we have restored them to paper through high-definition printing and precise embossing. This makes the color patterns of QianNian Zhou's new products unique and full of storytelling depth.

In terms of environmental protection: we are advancing material application research that is not only safe but also promotes health. This goes beyond the "standard" category and explores more sustainable solutions from the source.

We hope to directly empower the differentiation of QianNian Zhou's new products through these explorations. When other products on the market are still competing over the number of colors, QianNian Zhou's new products have already had a complete "emotional setting" and "story core."

【OurJia】:This seminar calls for the industry to shift from "single product" to "ecological construction." As a part of the supply chain, how do you participate in the industry co-creation initiated by QianNian Zhou? What new opportunities or challenges does this cooperation bring to your own business development?

【Fang Xu】:We fully agree and deeply participate in this "ecological construction." The participation method of Shenglong is based on "supply chain forward" and "open innovation."

How to participate: we are no longer passive in receiving orders, but intervene in the early stage of QianNian Zhou's trend research. Our designers and R&D engineers are jointly formed into a joint project team with QianNian Zhou's product managers and marketing teams to interpret consumer trends and quickly convert market language into technical language. This "co-creation" model greatly improves the accuracy and efficiency of new product development.

New opportunities: this deep binding allows us to gain insight into the terminal market earlier, and drive our own technological upgrade and strategic layout in reverse. To meet the co-creation needs, we must invest in more forward-looking research and development, which has actually tempered our core competitiveness and opened the door to the transformation from "manufacturing" to "intelligent manufacturing."

New challenges: challenges do exist, which require us to have stronger flexible production capabilities and a fast response mechanism. Because co-creation projects are often more customized and innovative, the flexibility of the production line and the depth of technical reserves are greater tests. However, we regard this as a precious driving force for the evolution of the enterprise.

【OurJia】:Please describe your ideal home that has "relaxation."

【Fang Xu】:My ideal home with "relaxation" does not have to be very large, but it must be a place where all senses can "slow down."

Visually, it is soft, even light, and the color of the walls and furniture is warm neutral tones, without abrupt color changes, making every place where the eye rests peaceful.

Tactilely, when you walk barefoot on the floor, or touch the door or table, you feel the warm texture of wood or fabric, not the cold and smooth alienation.

Smell-wise, it is filled with the smell of sunbaked cotton and linen, or faint booksmell, with no smell of chemicals.

In the end, the creation of such a home depends on the subtle emotions conveyed by every decorative material. This is the direction in which Shenglong and QianNian Zhou work together: with our materials and technology, we will turn this "relaxation" blueprint into a tangible, palpable daily reality in the homes of thousands of households.
