Color Trends in the Modern Era: A Deep Dive into Social and Cultural Shifts The Evolving Language of Color in a Visual World
In today's visually dominated era, color transcends mere visual presentation. From cozy home spaces to the cutting-edge international design stage, the application of color is ubiquitous and constantly evolves with the tides of time.
Color trend research is not only a discipline that merges art and science but also a crucial window into understanding social心态 and cultural trends. In the realm of residential life, the public's preferences for color are subtly shifting, and what lies behind these changes? In a rapidly changing market environment, how can one accurately capture the subtle connections between social data, consumer behavior, and design trends? What will the future direction of color trends be? As traditional colors from the East shine on the international design stage, does this mark the rise of Asia's color discourse power?
With these questions in mind, we had the privilege of interviewing Zhou Xin, the editor of the "Asia Color Trend Almanac," engaging in a deep conversation with Professor Zhou to unveil the mysterious veil behind color and explore the future direction of color development in Asia.
PChouse: As an expert in color trend research, how do you see the shift in public preferences for color in residential life, and what does it reflect in terms of social心态 changes?
Zhou Xin: I believe that in recent years, Chinese fashion and traditional culture have become very popular among young people. Compared to the past, such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, elements like "China Red" were quite rare at that time. Now, people are no longer strangers to traditional colors of China. In the past, I edited a small dictionary of traditional colors, and at that time, traditional colors in China were virtually ignored, and it was extremely difficult to find information. Now, the situation is very different; many people are doing traditional works. Design Shanghai has a traditional color exhibition at the "Integrate" pavilion, and in this aspect, I think they have done a very good job. Now, many people are studying traditional colors or dedicated to restoring traditional colors. As long as there is consumer demand and the efforts of creative people, traditional colors or regional colors will be welcomed.
