Design Insights: Little Things, Big Impact with Wu Xiaoguang
On September 24, 2025, the "Search for Influencers in the Design Industry – Cover Characters City Salon" was held in Fuzhou, co-hosted by Interior Design Chinese Edition and Schneider Electric. This season's focus was on the profound connotation and design inspiration behind "Little Things, Big Impact". Wu Xiaoguang, the design director of Dati Design with 26 years of experience in commercial design, was invited to attend and was interviewed by Sina Home.
Wu Xiaoguang pointed out that true details are about all users of the space. He took the example of a seaside resort hotel to emphasize that design should not only respect natural protection but also pay attention to the "service staff" who stay long-term, "who have the deepest space experience and are worthy of the greatest environmental care". This detailed observation of "human scale" is exactly the deep manifestation of "Little Things".
Regarding industry trends, Wu Xiaoguang believes that hotels are heading towards a dual integration of "Boutique" and "Hotelization", which essentially seeks a relaxed and natural vacation feeling. On the technical level, he advocates for "the best intelligence is naturally generated", promoting a technology experience of non-intrusiveness and symbiosis. His Yunnan cultural tourism project is just through the connection of the "eat, drink, stay, play" ecological chain details, satisfying the high requirements of high-net-worth groups for "instant emotional value", which proves the logic of "small details build big business"。
Wu Xiaoguang concluded that designers need to deeply understand the transformation from business logic to design logic, practice the symbiotic concept in the details, and be able to see the big picture from the small, giving space a lasting vitality.
