On May 24th, the 3rd National Architectural Coating职业技能 Competition "National Paint, National Craftsman" organized by Sanke held in Shanghai came to a successful conclusion. As a benchmark event in the domestic paint industry, this competition gathered more than a hundred top craftsmen from across the country, interpreting the concept of "material and process coexistence" through practical competitions. Among this technical feast, the 30-year veteran craftsman Huang Zhaofei stood out with his strict control over the process specifications. NetEase Home made an on-site interview with him. His professional track reflects the transformation of the Chinese coating industry from "barbaric growth" to "standardization as king".

NetEase Home: You have been in the coating industry for 30 years, your footprints have spread all over the country, why did you finally settle in Shanghai?

Huang Zhaofei: In the early years, I ran around half of China with engineering teams, but the Shanghai market is the most standardized, and customers have high quality requirements, which forces us to continuously upgrade the process. Now I mainly do interior walls, but I also have rich experience in exterior walls. I was doing operator projects before, and the foundation was laid then.

NetEase Home: How do you feel about your first participation in the competition? What is your evaluation of the competition?

Huang Zhaofei: The scale is very large, especially the technical certification环节, which makes us "old hands" feel the pressure. The competition is like a mirror, which can clearly see our shortcomings. After discussing with colleagues, we found that Sanke is indeed ahead in standardized processes, which is good for the industry.

NetEase Home: This competition focuses on the spirit of craftsmanship, what do you think is the core of the spirit of craftsmanship?

Huang Zhaofei: "Process is the red line, innovation is the blueprint". Only by holding the bottom line can we talk about progress. Last year, when doing the renovation of old houses in Jing'an District, the customer required to move in within 8 hours. We followed the Sanke standard, taking photos of each process from the base treatment to the surface paint brushing. A young worker wanted to skip a sanding step, and I stopped it immediately: "If we skip one step today, the wall will crack tomorrow, and it will be Sanke's brand that is destroyed!" When the customer inspected, he said: "Your wall painting is more careful than my home renovation." Customers pay for service, not for应付. Now online reservation and offline service are the trend, and reputation is all about details. Sanke's "8-hour net-smelling new home" can be a selling point because we dare to write the standard into the contract.

NetEase Home: In your professional experience, what support has Sanke's product brought to you?

Huang Zhaofei: The environmental protection is indeed strong, especially the base material, but the publicity needs to be more accurate. Before, some colleagues questioned whether "8-hour net-smelling new home" is a trick, but Sanke has national certification, but customers don't know the difference. We front-line workers know best, and good products need to be clearly explained.

Huang Zhaofei's 30 years are 30 years of growth with the Chinese coating industry. From guerrilla warfare to standardized construction, from "able to live" to "8-hour check-in", he has witnessed the iteration of the industry's understanding of quality.
